A world-class trout stream, the Little Red River is one of Arkansas’ most popular fishing destinations. While stocked rainbow trout provide the bulk of the river’s fish population, brown trout running five to eight pounds are common and a 20 to 30 pounder is always possible in the river that produced the 40 pound, 4 ounce world-record catch in 1992, a mark that stood until 1992.
The Little Red River begins it’s journey from the base of the Greers Ferry Dam. The temperatures are on average 42 to 54 degrees. It’s icy cold water makes it a world-class trout stream.
With tailwater extending 32 miles makes the “Lil Red” one of Arkansas’ most popular fishing destinations.
Even in the summer it is always cooler on the river.
