Heber Springs as a Health Resort.

The existence of the Springs and their remarkable curative powers have been known for many years. The seven springs, housed in four springhouses in Spring Park on Main Street, are labeled variously “Red Sulfur,” “White Sulfur,” “Black Sulfur,” “Magnesia,” “Iron,” “Arsenic,” and “Eye Water.” They have been characterized as “wonderful medicinal springs.” Many hotels were built in the area to accommodate the many guests who came to area to partake in the healing effects of the mineral waters, in the early 1900’s. The attraction of the Spring Park has continued through the years. Doctors continued to recommend the water for treatment of various ailments as late as the 1930’s.

Today Heber Springs maintains seven sulphur springs, each under a roofed pavilion. The mineral water pours from spigots for visitors who come to drink it or carry it away.
